Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue on Suicide Prevention in Nepal (10 August 2026)
ICMS, Samarpan Academy, hosted an engaging and insightful Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue on Suicide Prevention on 10 August 2026, bringing together diverse perspectives on the growing challenge of suicide in Nepal.

Dr. Kishor Adhikari, Registrar of Manmohan Technical University and former Campus Chief of Samarpan Academy, served as the key resource person and presented a thought-provoking working paper on suicide prevention. He also helped clarify several common myths and misconceptions surrounding suicide, highlighting the importance of understanding the issue beyond commonly held assumptions.

The presentation was followed by an interactive discussion involving government and security sector representatives, health professionals, rehabilitation practitioners, faculty members, and students, allowing participants to share perspectives and experiences from different sectors.

A key takeaway from the dialogue was that awareness is fundamental to suicide prevention, but it must be supported by knowledge, evidence-based policymaking, and meaningful collaboration among multiple stakeholders. Addressing suicide as a complex social and public health issue requires collective and coordinated efforts.

It was a productive and enlightening exchange, providing an important platform for strengthening understanding and advancing dialogue on suicide prevention in Nepal.
