The Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) program is designed for students who want to build a successful career in the field of information technology. It provides a strong foundation in computer science through a balanced combination of theory and practical learning. Students gain knowledge and hands-on experience in programming, software development, database management, networking, web technologies, and other essential IT skills. The program prepares graduates for a wide range of careers in the technology sector as well as for higher studies in computing and related fields.
The demand for skilled IT professionals continues to grow in Nepal and around the world. The BCA program equips students with practical knowledge and technical skills that are highly valued across industries. Through hands-on projects, software development, networking, and real-world problem solving, students gain the confidence to work in a wide range of technology-related roles.
In the final year, students can further develop their interests by choosing elective courses in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Internet of Things (IoT), Information Security, Data Analysis and Visualization, Database Administration, Network Administration, Image Processing, and E-Governance. Combined with an internship and capstone projects, these opportunities help students build specialized skills and enhance their career prospects.
Graduates of the BCA program can pursue careers as software developers, web developers, mobile application developers, database administrators, system analysts, network professionals, IT officers, cloud computing professionals, and technology consultants. The degree also provides a strong foundation for higher studies in computer science, information technology, and related disciplines.
The BCA is a four-year (eight-semester) undergraduate program affiliated with Tribhuvan University. The semester-based curriculum emphasizes continuous learning through classroom instruction, practical laboratory work, projects, presentations, and an internship. Students complete 126 credit hours, including three project courses and an industry internship, ensuring they graduate with both academic knowledge and practical experience.

To be eligible for admission to the BCA program, applicants must:
Have secured a minimum D+ grade in each subject of Grades 11 and 12 with an overall CGPA of 2.0 or above.
Or
Have passed 10+2, PCL, or an equivalent qualification in any discipline with at least a Second Division.
