International Exposure in Disaster Management | Japan Visit

A team of three students, led by our Campus Chief, Dr. Kishor Adhikari, recently visited Japan from December 29, 2025 to January 6, 2026 as part of the JST Sakura Program of the Government of Japan.
The program was graciously hosted by IECMS, Kagawa University, Takamatsu City, and offered an exceptional learning experience in advanced disaster management technologies and practices.
During the visit, students received hands-on training and exposure to:
DONET and advanced seismic monitoring systems
Tsunami debris simulation and analysis
Low-cost disaster management technologies
Disaster management frameworks and technologies used by city and prefectural governments
Simulation-based training for teachers in disaster management
Beyond technology, students also gained deep insights into the disaster culture of Japanese society, understanding how preparedness is embedded in daily life. The visit included learning from historical perspectives, such as an old Japanese castle designed with disaster resilience in mind, highlighting Japan’s long-standing approach to risk reduction.
Adding to the cultural experience, students also had the opportunity to experience Japan’s iconic bullet train, making the visit both educational and enriching.
This international exposure reflects ICMS Samarpan Academy’s commitment to global learning, practical training, and excellence in crisis and disaster management education.
